Can your brow shape change the image you present to the world ?

Apparently according to new research it certainly can!  Through what some call “the secret language of eyebrows,” your eyebrows could possibly be passing on an incorrect communication to the world. In a study co authored by John Persing, MD, an instructor of plastic surgery at Yale University School of Medicine, scientists digitally renovated images of the female face, varying up eyebrow shapes on individual women.

After showing the images to viewers, they found that “even subtle differences in the brows had a significant effect on how the woman’s mood was perceived.” Different eyebrow shapes evoked considerably different interpretations from the public.  They seemed to impact just how fatigued, surprised, angry, sad, or fearful the women from the photos were rated.

Eyebrows on many women including those of Asian and Caucasian descent are often sparse and somewhat irregular.  As the research follows, these women could be assumed as being shocked, puzzled, lacking confidence, and even juvenile when in reality none of those things are true. It has long been said that our eyes tell our story, and now researchers are finding that our eyebrows are also sending a very strong message!
